Vehicle Description 1955 Ford F100 - Completely Stock and Nearly All Original - Asking $38,000 Grass Valley, CA 95949 Up for Sale starting September 20, 2021 OVERVIEW This was my Grandmother's truck from a 1954 dealer show room to her death in 1988 and it was restored to nearly original stock condition from 2000 to 2004 by a classic car restoration master.
Read on if you want to know more.
OWNERSHIP My grandmother literally purchased it right off the show room floor at a dealer in Little Rock Arkansas in October of 1954.
The next year she filled it with the belongings she couldn't sell and drove out to Los Angeles California to be with her son, daughter-in-law, and her grandchildren.
For many years she was a beloved grade schoolteacher that valued all children and yet, she was also a gun toting desert rat, fiercely independent, engagingly colorful and an ultra-stubborn individual that could face-down a mountain lion (maybe I exaggerate, but not much).
She spent most of her spare time driving this truck around the Mojave Desert collecting colored glass, interesting rocks and old artifacts.
After my grandmother died in 1988 my aunt took it over and drove it until her death in 1993.
The truck sat in my brothers backyard in Lancaster, CA until in 1998 i collected it and trailered it to my home in Grass Valley.
i found the perfect guys to do the restoration in late 1999 and shipped off to Columbia, TN to be restored over the next three and a half years.
After many visits over those years, I received this truck in May of 2004.
.
I have been driving occasionally ever since.
WHY SELL IT? It is for sale because I've become disabled.
I lost the use of my left leg and have some trouble with my right, so I cannot drive a clutch anymore and I cannot take care of it anymore.
Yes, it is a family heirloom and I have tried, but there are no relations of mine that has shown any interested in having it be part of their family.
RESTORATION Starting in 2000, I had it restored by a classic car restoration master, Charlie Werger - (Car-Builder Restorations) who has a very comprehensive shop just outside the town of Columbia, TN.
The restoration was finished and the truck was shipped out to me in May of 2004.
With the exception of the paint, interior upholstery, some of the glass, new parts to rebuild the engine, the wood in the bed, and the chrome and plastic, it is all original and true to the same truck that rolled off that Little Rock show room floor in 1954.
We also added hardened valve seats for unleaded fuel and we also added disc brakes and wired the truck with a 12 V electrical system.
I wanted it to be safe to drive and easy to fix while on the road.
The original paint was Ford Red and in the 50's that was really almost a dark orange.
For the restoration, I chose a deeper Fire Engine Red to better accent the wood, and cream colored grill and wheels.
While I'm not really a car guy, I have had it in a few local car shows where it has won Best Stock Truck twice.
ODOMETER According to my father, the Odometer had turned twice and the engine had been rebuilt once before.
He also believed that at that time the block had been replaced, but during restoration, Charlie didn't believe that was true.
The Odometer reading of 44671 reflect the miles I have put on the truck since it was restored those are estimated at maybe 5.
5K.
PERSONAL HISTORY This truck has been a lot of personal pleasure for me.
It was so much fun to just drive around our little town, where I'd get the occasional thumbs up or I'd catch someone looking it over in the grocery parking lot.
There many pictures during family gatherings where the truck was a central character.
and my granddaughter experienced her first and last clutch in this truck when she was learning to drive.
.
Among many of its other services, this truck has shuttled more than one newlywed couple from their ceremony to their reception, it has delivered toys to families during Christmas Time, and it once gave a dying woman a memorable ride in a truck that looked much like the one she grew up with.
So, while these experiences and memories are mine to keep, I can sell you this truck that needs a new home and you can start creating your own stories.
Please feel free to email me with questions, requests for specific photos, or details i haven't furnished.
Cheers.
